Escalade Hid Conversion

Recommended Posts

Just a thought, but I was wondering if I could swap a set of Escalade HIDs into my Denali. I wonder if anyone has done this in any other GMT800 truck or SUV. The headlight assemblies probably would not swap in (size & shape), but I wonder if the rest of the HID equipment would. Also if any electric upgrades need to be done to run the HIDs. Any suggestions?

Why not buy a HID conversion kit off of ebay??

My best friend did this a couple of months ago to his Denali and it's sick! No reason to spend lots of jack; $80/pair and you are good to go. I'll probably order a couple of sets for mine this week, to be honest.

I've been wondering an answer to this also. I don't like the fact that ebay the HID's go on-off-on at startup without modificaiton (not that I'm agains mods  ) I have searched to no avail but noticed that there are empty fuse spots in the underhood fuse box labled LH HID and RH HID. Is there a way to wire the ebay HID's into these so that during startup, the lights just stay on like the Eskys?

I had the same worries when installing HID on my truck. The way I went around this is just put the key in and turn it quick all the way to turn it over then it never has enough time to kick on before starting. That way it prevents the on-off-on

Just ordered 2 sets; lows and fogs.

Seller

2-3 days for delivery. I'll have pics early next week.

Which Color Temp did you go with? Also why not the high beams also?? From what I have read maybe it useless to do the highs....is it hard on the lenses or is it just pointless because the lows are so bright??

I went with 6000K. I wanted a really nice white. They have a tiny bit of blue to them but I've seen them on my buddies two vehicle and they look very nice. Almost went with the 5000K's but have never seen them and didn't want to be disappointed. 6000 should be just right.

As far as the highs, I live in a mainly suburban area and hardly ever use my highs so there was no real reason to do them. However, the lows are so bright that I doubt I'll ever use the highs anyway.

Yeah, the highs are nearly pointless. Since I have put the HID installed on my truck I have hardly ever used my high beam. When I flip my high beam on, there is really no difference. It is pointless to turn them on, it just very lightly illuminates signs far down the road, but the HID work better than some of my past cars with the highs on.

I have the Xentec 5000K HID in my low.

I don't know about your '04 but I played around a bit this evening and if you simply turn the switch to the parking lights, then start the truck, then turn the knob to the regular headlights, no on-off-on. I'll be bypassing my auto headlights soon so hopefully that'll be a long term fix but for now, this works.

I have no clue how to bypass the auto headlight, but if you figure out let me know. I rewired my DRL to my high (very easy), but no clue on disable auto on. Secondly, if you just insert your key, then turn it quickly to the start position then the headlights dont go on-off-on. It just bypasses the sequence to the ON only.

I just pulled the fuse (32, I think) and disabled the DRL's. I always drive with my parking lights on and if you can't see me with those and he size of my truck, you aren't gonna see me.

As for the disabling of the auto headlights, I'll have to search to find it but M.Cueva posted a bulletin on it some time back. It requires soldering in a resistor inline with the sensor in the dash. It's how they do it for the police package vehicles, I believe. It can be done but I need to find it. Check back in a few.

EDIT: Here it is. After reading it again and Mike's "Good luck" comment I may just be using my or your method instead. I'd much rather replace a set of HID's than be 2-holed with a busted truck that the dealer won't fix.

Negative. I tried this on mine, and even with the switch on the parking lights when i turn the ignition on the headlights still come on. Oh well...still want HID's though!
