2000 Silverado With Rear Sliding Window

I am new to the forum, so first off, I have a 2000 Chevy Silverado 1500. It is the ext. cab, step side 4x4. It came with the sliding rear window. Ever since I bought it, it has leaked. It looks as if the casing around the window is cracked. I was wondering if anyone else has had this problem too. Thanks!

very common for that truck, and a lot of them the front windshield will make a little air noise while driving,usually passenger side.

Yep,This was a HUGE problem,GM realized this and discontinued the rear-slider option in mid-2000 until a new redesigned one came out in mid-'03.

I went through this with my '99 until the new one came out and they changed it for me.

You said they replaced it, was that like a recall or did that cost you something to get that done?

No,No recall.

It didn't cost me anything though because my first one cracked around 8,000 miles so they replaced it,that one cracked not long after that so they changed it again,By that time they realized the problem of the frames cracking and pulled all remaining stock,I just used some clear silicone in the two cracks I had until they came out with the new design window.

Then when the new one came out they replaced it under a "special warranty policy" for me even though my truck was out of warranty and because of the past history of the issue they covered it for me.

Did you buy the truck new or used?

If you post your VIN I can run a warranty service history on your truck and see if it has been replaced before.

I can also run a build sheet to make sure it is a factory sliding window,although it sounds like it is.
