well tonight i raced my buddies 04 2500HD crew cab short bed 4x4 6.0 in my 04 1500 ex. cab short bed 4x4 5.3.....his mods are, k&N intake, magnaflow exhaust, high flow cats, and a bullydog programer, my mods are volant intake, magnaflow exhaust, and a nelson tune. we went from a 25 roll, i pulled on him until his headlight was behind my passenger side door, and then at about 85 or 90, he just started pulling away and had about 2 truck lengths on me by 115 when we stopped.

the hd's dont come with stock highflow cats?....i know the half tons do (2 actually).

Anything built in the last 10 years or so, maybe the last 20 will have high flow cats.

The 4l80e must have a shorter 3rd gear?

4l80 gear ratios = 1st 2.48, 2nd 1.48, 3rd 1.00, OD 0.75.

4l60/5 gear ratios = 1st 3.06, 2nd 1.63, 3rd 1.00, OD 0.70.

 

With you having a better tune, less weight, and comparable power, I'm not sure how you got pulled 2 cars from 85-115, which is 3rd gear territory depending on axle ratio's. Speaking of that what are your guys' axle ratio's? That plays a roll as well.
