First of all...I'm NOT the most technical person on here..and I hope what I'm asking is appropriate to this forum, so forgive me if this is out of place. That said....here you go. It's a big pain in the rear to fill the fuel tank of a Chev Avalanche right now anyway, but it is especially a pain when the gas pump clicks off every few seconds. My repair facility tells me the vent valve solenoid needs to be replaced. What I find especially interesting is their next statement that they've had a run on these things lately - all on GM vehicles. I can't find a recall or bulletin on NHTSA anywhere, so how can I find out if this is a defective part and should be replaced at little or no charge? HELP :jester:

Same problem different truck (GMC Sierra). My fix.... Pull the pump nozzle out about an inch. I cannot get mine to fill either if it goes all the way in.

I just got a document from an old friend at a chevy dealership. Ask for document #PIT3961: Premature Pump Shut off when Refueling. It lists your truck as well as mine.

If you have fax, send me your fax # and I will send this to you.
