Line-x Rocker Panels

ok, so here is the deal. Now that the weather is getting nicer here in Northeastern WI, i went outside at did a look down of my truck. To my dismay, there is rust forming on the rocker panels underneath the door ! i guess i should expect it for the truck is 13 years old. Anyways, with a stimulus check from the government coming in the mail sometime in May, i have decided to use this money to line-x my rocker panels (and possibly rear bumper) to help combat the hellish salty winters here in WI. I was wondering if anyone has done this yet, and if so, how is it holding up and how does it look? thanks!

I remember seeing a truck that had the entire vehicle line-x'd (or something similar). It suited the vehicle and looked kinda cool, but I don't think I'd do this for the anything other than the bed and perhaps inside of the wheel wells. I'd just get the body panels fixed and repainted.

This may not help much as I never took pics but Ive done some work for guys with Herculiner. One was a Suzuki Samari daily driver/rock crawler (the whole exterior), a 4 Runner daily driver(bottom up to lower body line, step tubes, front and rear tube bumpers), & a chevy 1500 (pinch weld portion of lower body). The Sami held up for 3 years and was sold, the 4 Runners going on 2 years and still looks fine & the chevy I have no idea. All from northern IL and southern WI so with in a similar climate. If you could diy with Herculiner or similar it would be alot cheaper than getting it painted. Sand it, spray some rust converter on it & roll or brush on the liner. Im a closet red neck so Im ok with this but Im sure others may not be.

I had an 06 with the rocker panels Line-Xed up to the bottom of the doors as there was a natural body line to follow on that model. That was a good deal for me as I normally drive on dirt & gravel roads which chips the rocker panels badly and the rust begins. With the Line-X there was no visible body damage, none. Wanted it done on my 08 but the installer wanted $400 this time instead of the $275 I had paid before. Maybe should have done it but that seemed high so I had the 3M clear protective tape installed on the rockers for $100.

yeah, i live up in Northern part of WI up by the U.P. and im constantly going down shitty roads with gravel getting flung at my rocker panels. Then come winter, some of the plows dump a dirt/gravel mix on the roads while others do salt. the combination of the 2 just is a formula for rust. i was just wondering though, did they put the badges back on when the line-x the rockers for you?

did this to my old sonoma. I had herculiner done and IMHO, a roll on job is too thin and weak. after 2 winters (northern Michigan) the Herculiner took a beating and thinned out to where i could see the blue through it. I'd like to get line-x done to my truck this summer with our "stimulus" rebates, but i think that money's already spent (engagement ring, wedding planning, student loans, etc)

very nice truck there! the pipes are badass! yeah that is exactly what im looking at doing. Line-x up to the conturs of the body. when i get this done i will have to post some pictures. might be a couple months though.

I would't do the entire lower panel with it, just wheel wells, underarriage, bed, and a little under the door before the gap between the truck, and door.
