the Vortec Max was a $900 option on your truck, and came with 50 more hp plus the trans and diff rated to handle the extra hp and torque to go beyond that. How come you didn't just do that out of curiousity?

Well since I wanted the single cab, the vortec max doesnt come as an option in my country (UAE), the only option available is the 5.3 L ..

I would go with a Power Adder. A Supercharger or a turbo. One or the other. But if you do get a supercharger make sure that you get a 8 rib pulley system (slippage issues) with superchargers and a big cooling system if summers are hot in UAE. The stock internals on the 5.3L will handle about 550 RWHP, also at the same time you need to go with supporting mods, intake, headers, and exhaust everything else you need will come with the power adder.

Once you do that i would look into a built tranny, I would suggest you go wtih the 4L80E conversion kit, a better driveshaft and some rear end gears.

If it matters to you all this would put you into the 12's.

Im done with the supporting mods, apart from the header which ill probably order with the supercharger. Then ill look into the built-in tranny i guess when im done.

And yeah, it does get real hot here in the summer approx 110 F

Id like to be running in the 12's, thats basically what id like to acheive with this car, i wouldnt mind taking it further aslong as it'll be reliable with the current engine components.

Thanks for the input.

Go Turbo.

Unless turbo is significantly better (performance gains, reliabilty.. etc), id still be going with the supercharger, well correct me if im doing the wrong thing. Well basically cause I think the supercharge is a "cleaner" setup than the turbo, in terms of installation and components that need to be addressed. This is based on my limited knowledge in this field lol.

Cleaner install, yes.

More power, no.

If you want big power, you have to go turbo or twin turbo. Which of those depends on what you desire. You need to spend some time reading up on the differences between the two choices (and supporting mods) before you order anything.

Here's a quick tidbit on parasitic loss which is one of the major downfalls of the supercharger.

actually the new Eaton TVS systems are supposed to be more efficiant then turbos. I would rather go with a Supercharger for power right of the bat i dont like for boost to build up.

STS turbo :D

I'm assuming you've already done the basic bolt ons, or are you just skipping this portion?

Yeah have them installed

-Corsa catback (Rear exit),

-Airaid Intake

-Chip Tuning (Yeah, will need to re-tune again)

Only thing im missing I guess is the Headers.

was about to ask for you to state your other mods. Well with what you already have, more affordable & simpler mods would be, fuel injectors, ignition ( MSD ignitions ). I would say supercharger, or the turbo. The turbo seems to do better but that whistle is too annoying to me, much prefer the sweet whine of the supercharger.
