Cooling Fuel

Does anyone know if by cooling the fuel and making denser one can gain anything from it. I know that this was used back in the day to prevent vapor lock with carbs. So my thoughts are that if the air and fuel mixture can be cooled it would contribute to a better running motor ie: better mpg, power, ect. because in theory if something is denser then you can cover more surface area eliminating air that would have taken up some of that space in a warmer state. I have the concept all thought out but just thought I ask you guys for your thought on this.

Not sure how much help cooling the fuel would be...because as far as I know, there's no intake fuel temperature sensor...And the IAT sensor is a LONG ways up the chain from where fuel is introduced.

 

And since the computer advances/retards timing based on a variety of things, including the IAT sensor...Well...Cooling the fuel might decrease the risk of damage when the engine is running at it's leanest...But the knock sensors are going to keep that in line anyway.

My father owns his own trucking company and I know that on diesel that you can get an option for a fuel cooler system...that is diesel though I am not for sure about gas I think that the same principle would apply though like you said reducing the air ect. but I am not for sure. Just my 2 cents...

At the drag strip we used to run a coil of tubing inside a container and then fill the container with ice for those HOT days. Don't know how much it helped though and that was with a carb and mechanical fuel pump.

interesting Ill have to ask my uncle who is a diesil mechanic and see his input as far as gas aplication but I think his going to say that im crazzy for even thinking about it.
