Date: April 2, 2008

Subject: Coolant System Class Action Lawsuit Settlement

To: All General Motors Dealers (excluding Saturn, SAAB

and Isuzu)

Attention: Service Manager

Recently, an agreement was reached to settle multiple class action lawsuits pending around the country relating to a variety of cooling system related issues.

This includes the performance of silicon bead/nylon carrier intake manifold gaskets in certain 1995 through 2004 model year 3.1, 3.4 and 3.8 liter engines; alleged deficiencies in the performance of DexCool coolant in those same engines; coolant leaks in 2000 through 2004 model year 3.8 liter engines (RPO L36); and "DexCool sludging" (i.e. coolant system clogging) in 2000 through 2004 model year S-Utilities and pickup trucks.

Given the large size of the vehicle population involved, there will undoubtedly be a substantial amount of interest. Any customer inquiries should be referred to the official web site for settlement administration at http://www.dexcoolsettlement.com/.

Inquiring customers can also be referred to the toll free telephone number for the Claims Administrator at 1-866-245-4291.

<br />We all know Dex Cool sucks, nothing more needs to be said <img src="style_emoticons/default/biggrin.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid="" border="0" alt="biggrin.gif" /><br />

MILLIONS and MILLIONS of properly maintained vehicles do just fine on Dex-Cool! Don't get me started on this subject.

I entered a reply to this topic yesterday, but I don't see it. Anyway:

I had a Grand Prix, and it blew a head gasket. It only had about 60,000 miles, so I was surprised that it failed so soon. I gues this explains why. My girlfriend had a Malibu, and same thing happened to it. I spent some good money fixing my Grand Prix, so I'm glad this will help me get some of it back. My Mom's a manager at Autozone, and she said that gaskets in GM cars go out like crazy. This explains it.

Thanks for the info! That cash I may get will go towards some goodies for my truck.

It explains it only for the un-informed and un-educated and those fooled by high priced attorneys. Some gaskets have been revised more than once to enhance the sealing ability. Gasket were the issue, Dex-Cool is not the cause of gasket failure on properly maintained cars. Gaskets can fail on any engine using any coolant if the cooling system is not properly maintained. Now I know these facts mean nothing to those who like to listen to all the bad information that is floating around so go ahead and believe what you like. I have delt with and audited more high mileage and fleet Dex-Cool cars than most any of you would ever hope to see in a life time.
