Quote:For 34 years the federal Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) has exempted discharges from recreational boats from the Clean Water Act permit system. Regretfully, a recent court ruling cancelled this permit exemption. EPA is required by the court decision to develop and implement by September 30, 2008 a national permit system for ALL vessels in the United States for a variety of normal operational discharges

 

the permits will cost up to $2,000.00 per boat!

This is Federal and will effect every recreational boat from a small aluminum fishing boat on up.

ok so if i read most of it right... i just skimmed it.. but we'll have to pay to drive our boats now? i have 2 and thats just BS...

that is correct if the current bill remains the same. There are a couple of links there so you can email your representative to get it changed. The email wording is already done, all you need to do is fill it out and send it in.
