Part Number Please

Can someone please tell me the part number for the fog light push button switch for my truck? It is an 08 Sierra 1500. Mine is only working every now and then. If I push in and out about 15 times it will eventually com on but then the only way I canmake it shut off is to shut the lights back off. Then I have to fight it again to get it back on. I do not want to leave the truck at the dealer's shop all day for a 2 minute job. Also besides GMPartsdirect, where else can it be purchased? I'm off to work now but thanks in advance for any help offered.

Actually I saw your post yesterday and it was so busy at work I didn't get a chance to reply,I'm sure by now you realize you have to buy the complete headlamp switch,and theres two different designs.

No I didn/t know that. I ordered it from Parts train, she looked it up and quoted me $38.00 with shipping, now I'm wondering if it is correct or not.

Two things....Can you give me the last 8 digits of your VIN,Should start with either an "8Z" or an "81"

And on the top of your existing switch,does it say "DOME OFF" or just have a dome light symbol with a slash line going through it?

THE LAST 8 DIGITS ARE 8Z187578 And the button only has the slash going thru it. It does not say Dome off.

Part number is 25858705,It has a list price of $60.78,They could sell it for $38.00 and still make a couple bucks on it with shipping.

BTW...I don't know if I did one for you or not,But if I didn't...do you want the build sheet for your truck?

Thanks Rich, you did run the build sheet for me about 2 months ago. I'm going to call parts train and see what the part number They are shipping me.

I'm hold now with them, they had me down for the switch for an 03-06 Sierra. They don't know if they can cancel the order as it is already in the system. I thought she sounded confused.

Well the order must be rejected by me before opening it so that I will get credit back for the returned purchase. Then I must reorder the correct switch. Unfriggin believable. It's not picked, packed or shipped yet and it can't be stopped.

See this is what I don't understand,She looked one up for an '03-'06 Truck and you have an '08! WTF?

Plus did she ask you for your VIN like I did? If she did she would not have looked up the wrong one

The first thing I ask someone for when they call,or come in for a part,is there VIN,If they don't have it I tell them...GET IT!

Always give your VIN when asking for a part from a dealership,We need it for 95% of the parts we look up.

 

As far as them being able to send your part back,Once we place & send an order to GM,and it gets processed,its on its way and we cannot cancel it.

I have tried time and time again to cancel an order that I just placed a few minutes earlier,They always tell me that its been processed and its in the system for delivery,The only exception to this is if a part is on backorder,then I can cancel it.

 

Now in your case I believe they should take your part back because THEY go you the wrong part,If you ask for one for an '08 and they got you one for an '03-'06 thats there fault,not yours.

We all make mistakes,Lord knows I've ordered a few wrong parts in my 18 years in the business,You just have to own-up and admit your mistake and get the right part for the customer.
