Weird Noise Question 2001 Z71 Suburban 5.3

has anyone experienced a noise under the hood which sounds like the radiator fan hitting on fan shroud. I noticed this sound yesterday morning for the first time and have noticed that the noise only occurs after vehicle has cooled down and only happens once as you accelerate from a stop but within a couple of seconds it goes away and does not happen again as long as you drive vehicle. I have taken off fan shroud and checked the blades on the radiator fan thinking maybe on was cracked and might be expanding and hitting shroud but there is no evidence of that on the blades or fan shroud housing. I am thinking maybe the fan clutch is going out or maybe the waterpump has something to do with it. But at soon as a load is put on engine after startup and take off it happens really quick and goes away. Puzzling to me. maybe someone has experienced this and can help me. This is one of my first posts, and really like visiting the sight. Bye the way, my Suburban is a 2001 Z71 5.3L 146,000 miles and ticking. Please help.

I figured someone would have answered in some fashion, but I never thought nobody would respond. FYI the noise was being caused by the A/C tensioner pulley because the AC compressor was malfunctioning at higher RPM. Replaced AC compressor, problem solved.

Glad you managed to get your problem corrected. Try posting in the fullsize section next time around....gets much more traffic.
