I think you're wasting your time worrying about it personally. My dad's 3/4 ton avalanche was made in Mexico and it's been perfect for 5 years now. My crew cab silverado was made in Canada has been perfect too, but the paint job is pretty poor (thin black paint). It's not bad enough for the dealer to do anything about it though so I'll just keep my mouth shut.

Bottom line, why are you worried about it? Mexicans are hard workers and do their job well.

Yeah mexicans may not speak english well, but they know what work is unlike many americans of today. They do a good job at what they do for almost no pay. I have no problem with them, and respect them because they work extremely hard for a living and are proud of it, and we have lazy americans that make over 100,000 a year and dont know what a hard days work is like.

That's why i wrote: WITH ALL DUE RESPECT

and you know ,you are right ,what really counts is the quality of material ,and gm has it!

tks a lot ,let's end this topic!

FWIW,

I factory ordered my truck not knowing where it would be built. I will admit that I was initially a little disappointed when I found out it was built in Mexico. But ya know what? My truck is great!! I have ZERO paint issues and the interior is rattle-free. The build quality on this truck is awesome!!! Not knocking Oshawa, but I have heard plenty of "thin paint" issues and they all seem to have come from the Oshawa plant. I could be wrong, but it sure seems that way. I now have NO issue with my truck being assembled in Mexico, it still is built by GM and supports a US-Based corporation and supports far more American jobs than any US-built Toyota or other asian vehicle that's assembled here in the US. I would never hesitate to buy a Mexican-assembled GM vehicle ever again. They did a helluva nice job on mine. :shakehead:

My silverado is pretty badly orange peely too, and it is a canadian truck. My 99 doesnt have thin paint, but most of my dads newer ones have thin paint except for the mexican and american built ones. I think canada has thin paint but thats just me.

You know,I had four trucks ('94-'97-'99-'04) all built at the Oshawa,ON Canada plant, and they all had great paint,I don't think it was thin at all....and I'm pretty pickey about the paint on my trucks.

The truck I had with the nicest paint ever was my '94 S10 ZR2,built at the Shreveport,La. plant,That was some smooooth paint!

Hmmmm? To this day I have no idea where my 2000 GMC Sierra was built. But it is black and is still in nearly showroom condition to this day. NO orange peel and the paint quality is top-notch. After a good polish/wax that thing would shine like a mofo!!! Damn I miss that truck sometimes. :shakehead:

Its a shame that so many americans are unpatriotic. At least its better than sending your money to China. Then again I would understand if GM replaced American Axle parts with some made in Mexico, the unions have done way to much damage here. Pretty soon the patriotic thing will be to buy a Japanese car.

Hello everyone. I have not replied to a post yet. This topic caused me to respond. I have a 2008 GMC Sierra that was made in Indiana. I absolutely love my truck, and I am proud that I bought a truck that was made in AMERICA. This country is going down the drain because too many people have no problem with buying vehicles made out of the country. I am glad that everyone here has purchased a GM vehicle, because it is an American company. Some of the things that I am hearing here are disturbing, because I think some people don't have a problem with buying a toyota, nissan, ect. I have a problem with buying one of these vehicles because I am from Michigan and It has been killing our economy for years. I have heard so many people say that it is not hurting our economy. If this is the case, someone needs to explain to me how it is not hurting Michigans economy, and for that matter, the American economy. This whole situation burns my ASS! :shakehead:
