Transfer Case Chain Noise?

Noise I was hearing last week in 03 Z71 Tahoe may be chain in transfer case...anybody done this job or knows what to expect? How bad is it if it's just started about 500 miles ago?

I dont have a 4WD vehicle, but what does it sound like, grinding, popping, rumble, moan???

Yea, it's a kinda clacking, rattling sound...not like a u-joint...changed them to be sure
