has anyone here replaced their pillar tweeters with aftermarket ones?? I'm trying to get my type-r tweeters to go into the factory holes, but it doesn't seem to be working for me. I dont want to cut the holes in the piller bigger unless I have to, so any other suggestions would be great.

its a 2006 sierra vmax with bose 7 speaker system

I have a 08 silverado... I kept the stock tweeter in the pillar and cut a new round hole in the pillar for my new tweeter to fit flush. Looks neat and clean. On my old truck I ran 4 tweeters, two on each side, up to the top of the pillar and stuck them with 3m tape. I figured I would have this truck a while though so I took a little more time on it

i'm definitely gonna have this one for a while...thats why i want it nice and clean. I'm also concerned that if i cut the hole bigger in the piller that the outer plate for the tweeter wont fit flush all the way around as its flat, and the pillar is obviously not.

i removed the alpine tweeter from the housing that it came in but it still was not small enough to get in the factory mounts.

yea, i'm not sure what to tell you bud! Maybe try and find another brand of tweeters that are smaller? or maybe install them in the door and leave the stock tweeter in the pillar alone? But its up to you.

Not sure how big the Alpine's are but I put Infinity Kappas where the blose tweeters go. I had to trim the hole in the a-pillar a tad. I took the plastic holder that snaps into the a-pillar and trimmed it with an exacto blade. THen I used plastic epoxy to glue the tweeter cup (for mounting) to the inside of the a-pillar cover. Once I was done. the bose cover snapped right on and you cannot tell it is not stock.

I used one of the putty type epoxies for plastic. The kind you cut a hunk off and mix it in your hand until fully mixed and them apply like playdough.

Good luck!
