Transfer Case Id

Looking at towing this vehicle behind my RV.

 

2004 2500 4x4 Suburban.

 

To figure out if this is possible I need to know if I have a number 243 or a number 246 transfer case.

 

How do I find this out?

I have the build sheet but did not see anything about 243 or 246 on it.

Look for the RPO code on your build sheet,or in your glovebox at the SPID label.

If you have RPO code "NP1" you have the NP263 transfer case.

If you have RPO code "NP8" you have the NVG246 transfer case.

You can also look on the metal ID tag on the transfer case itself.

Great! I have the NP8 which is the Autotrac transfer case. It is towable. Thanks so much!
