Air Conditioner Stupid Question?

This may seem like a stupid question, but when turning on your air conditioner is both the snowflake symbol and re-circulate light buttons supposed to be turned on. Can't u just use re-circulate for adequate cooling? Thanks for answering my stupid question.....

Well, the "snowflake button" turns the compressor on and off. So, if it's cool enough outside that you don't NEED the compressor on to have "adequate cooling" - by all means - go for it! We're going to hit 96 degrees here today, though. So, I'll guaran-damn-tee you the "snowflake button" will be "on" in my truck this afternoon...

If you have the automatic climate control and your truck has been sitting outside in the sun, then the recirculate light will automatically come on until the inside temp of the vehicle is cooler. It will then automatically shut off...
