Stranded W/no Headlights

MY 2003 Sierra has no headlights or running lights but relays and fuses are fine. Returning from the lake after fishing late meant using a flashlight out the window. Please help.

I had a similiar thing happen to me with my 2002 YukonXL. Driving back from the ski hill at 10pm with no lights...not fun. That was a couple of years ago.

In my case, it turned out to be the 'multi-purpose' switch which is inside the sterring column. The light circuit runs thru it for whatever reason. Signal lights I can see running thru the switch, but the headlights?

Last week, the same type of switch went on my Buick, but this time I still had lights. Just no turn signals and the dash did all kinds of weird things.

The headlights run through the multifunction switch for the dimmer switch.
