Despite allready having the worst news in American history, we have an allready bad deal getting worse.

Fuel Prices are on they're way up.  I highly suggest everyone buying fuel today!  I have been told, and seen that fuel prices will sky rocket within the next day.  It's allready ?.30/gallon here in Mid-Eastern Kansas, and rumor is that the U.S.A will break trade with OPEC.

No increase here, but it was a long wait.

price hasnt gone up, but panic is setting in. mad rush to the pumps after i got some gas. 1.69 at a chevron (had to use card no cash) i didnt have to wait, but by the time i was done 1 or 2 car lines were starting. i dont think its really nessacary for ppl to do this, most likely fear is going to cause more problems then anything else.

Just got back from the Texaco I stop at every morning.

Pricer per gallon - ?.37 for Regular, just like it was this morning.

No lines at the pumps and the Chevron a little ways down was in the same shape.

Profiteering over this would be criminal!!!! I haven't checked prices here in NC but I expect they will be going up here as well. It can really piss me off when someone feels the need to profit over a tragedy like this.

I gassed up tonight also...  same price as yesterday ?.39.  This is B*llSh*t!!!   I know the prices are going up and its a **** ripoff of american consumers.  Oil was up about ? a barrel in European trading today... (10%).  So fuel prices are going up 75%??? WTF!!!

My neighbor owns a convenience store and he raised his prices $.15/gallon only because all other stores raised theirs $.25.  His store is in Ohio about 1 1/2 hours from here and he was told gas was selling for ?.50/gallon in Massillon OH.  For petes sake!!!  The pipelines are still flowing, and there is absolutely no justafication for this increase...

What happened today was very tragic indeed and it really bothers me deeply, but this gouging by the oil companies is un-called for.  This is not the end of the world guys, and this fuel crisis thing should only be temporary...  (that's my opinion)

Investigation in illinois going on for price gouging

Every gas station was packed even at 9pm tonight some even out of gas I didnt live during the gas crisis but this was scary.

I heard it was ? a gallon down in indy this afternoon

I went to pick my sister up from work last night about 8:30 and gas stations had lines of about 25 cars in the streets.  Most places were still holding at 1.79 some went up 20cents, but even worse in other areas they were trying to profit from this and jacked up prices over a dollar a gallon.  Trying to profit from america's darkest hour, lets just see how many customers they have after this.  Also, I heard that people are flooding stores, but when I picked my sister up, she works at pick and save, the place was empty, about three cars in the lot compared to the normal 75

I work for Shell, and I can tell you that the pipelines are open and producing, with the exception of the offshore tanker pipeline in the Gulf of Mexico.

It appears that the current spike in prices is due to panic and speculation, and prices will return to a more reasonable level in a few days.  They may go up if there is a conflict in the Mid East, but remember Desert Storm, the gas prices were higher but not ridiculously so.

If there is price gouging in your area I would hold off on gasing up for a couple days unless you need to.  It will come back down by then.

The oil companies have all frozen prices, and the attorney generals of all states are keeping an eye on prices.  Local gas stations that are found to be price gouging will be having some legal issues

I think that patrick is exactly right. Our panic and fears will fuel exceptional demand which will further fuel supply problems which will create artificial shortages and thus raise prices. Individual operators may be the problem right now. My$.02.
