Different Wester's Tune Prices?

Recommended Posts

This is my first post to this forum. However, I've gleened quite a bit of information while reading the past couple of weeks. My question deals with the price difference I'm seeing with Wester's PCM/TCM tune for my NBS 07 Chev VortexMax. Westers up in Canada says 595.00, and Butch (independent Wester's Dealer) say 479.00. The local Wester's dealer I spoke with today (and whom I may go through) doens't know how Butch can say this price. Local dealer says with this lower price he maybe in jeopardy of losing his Wester's business. The difference I see is 120.00 bucks. However, I want the best tune, as well as quality and hassel free. Anyone with some insight fill me in...

I don't know for sure why there is a price difference, but it could be that if you deal directly with Wester's, you will get a new ECM for your 2007 NBS truck. There was a problem with the security on the NBS trucks to set up used ECMs for other trucks. Last I heard this was still a problem. So basically the ECM core that you send back to Wester's becomes a paperweight until the security issue is resolved. I think Butch avoids this problem by programming your original ECM that you send to him first. Your best bet is to talk to Butch and see how he is able to charge a lower price. Butch is a good man to deal with.

Well, the're currently off in the "Wild Blue Yonder " headed up to Tilley, Alberta, Canada. I sent both my original PCM & TCM to Wester's Garage. I've read alot about the issues with the security, and I wanted my original computers returned so I don't have the crank relearn issue to deal with either. WOW-UPS overnight shipping was $$$$$:) However, I believe It'll be worth it in the end. I can't wait to see how it wakes up my Max. I'll post some pics later this morning of my tuck. I'm currrently recovering from 7 midnights in a row, and can't get to sleep here at home...go figure.
