I finally reached the requried miles to replace my work van. Because they removed the Caravan from our choices, I had to go with a 2009 Ford Taurus SEL. It pained me to do it but of the choices I had, it is by far the biggest and most comfortable car we had to choose from. The Impala LS is on our list and as much as I like the looks of this car, it is much smaller inside and the seats in the base models are awful for a guy 6' 2"

My other choices were: Equinox, Sebring, Subaru Forester, Camry and Altima. The Equionox was nice but simply too plain inside, the Sebring is too small, the other three all shared a serious problem that would not allow me to order any of the three. THEY ARE ALL RICERS. :sigh: In addition, they simply are not good road cars for a guy my height. One of the guys that works for me has a Camry and he has regretted ordering it everyday. He is also about 6'2".

The 09 Taurus has 263 HP and a 6 spd automatic. It maybe is not the most attractive car on the road today, but from my short test drive, that puppy is comfortable and really quick for such a big car.

They are redesigning the 2010 and from the spy shot I saw, it looks really nice.

Well, if this is the 2010 Taurus, I'm not sure I like the direction they are going with it. Something about it reminds me of a cross between a Toyota and a Hyundai.

That grille does remind me some of my dad's last Taurus, though... Maybe it'll look better on the street and in better photos! :withstupid:

Ever consider the new Chevy Malibu? :sigh:

Based on what he said, it sounds like his company provided him a list of choices and the Boo wasn't on it...

The Taurus used to be one of my favorite rental vehicles. Sure they were plain and bland and the base engines were a little underpowered, but they were quiet and comfortable to put on a lot of miles for me ( I am nearly 6'3")

It's for work anyway, Have fun in your Yukon on the weekends!

As long as you don't have to pay for it and you use it for work then that would be ok with me. I'm hoping to get a job with a Construction company that has a deal for a truck in it so they will buy my next truck. :withstupid:

I can dream can't I? :sigh:

EDIT: The Taurus looks nice, I forgot its just a rebadged Ford 500. Should be a pretty nice car.

I really like the Malibu and would have likely gone for it if it were avail to me. I have been in one and they are still a little small for me.

Some days I may drive 400 to 500 miles and belive me, space and comfort means a lot after the first 300 miles.

The 2010 pic posted is the one I saw. You can see some of Mazda's influence and you can see the grille shape from the previous body.

From what I can tell, Ford will not start producing the 2009s until Aug 18th. This means I will not likely see my new car until Sept.

They are offering their White sand tri coat met, (sort of like a pearl white) and that is what I chose.

I don't think you'll be unhappy with it. I put about 60K on a Taurus before I got my latest Explorer company sled and it was a pretty quiet and nice highway car. I got about 27 MPG out of it too. Overall it wasn't bad at all for a company car. I do prefer the Explorer I have now though over it even though. I average about 20mpg in it.

dude...did you even sit in the altima? I can't speak for the newest revision but my '05 has more leg and head room than a caddy dts. I'm 6'8" and have enough room with the seat all the way back. Not to mention the v6 will rock the doors off those other cars and still get 30mpg.

I really like the looks of the new Altima, they are built about 5 miles from my home and we have a couple in our local fleet and I have traveled with those guys a couple of times.. The problem is the seat height not the leg room. The seats are just too close to the floor for me and the overall room is just not there.I guess the seat height and space in the vans have spoiled me. I know they are nice cars but just not what I would call a 500 mile a day car. Besides, the Altima choice we had was a 4 banger, The Camry is a V6 but I am not sure why we could not get a 6 in the Altima. I guess they were afraid we would hurt ourselves.

Oh forget it then. The 4 banger is garbage, eats a ton of oil. it's not in the same class as the vq35 v6.

Trey,

Good choice the Taurus is a good car. I would have chosen the same. And Ya I also wouldn't have picked any of the rice either, not when the are great alternatives available.

I know you really liked the Van, too bad they took it off the list.

When does the new car come in?
