Undercover Tonneau

Hey, guys,

 

I saw a post by a guy who'd installed an "Undercover Tonneau" on his '05 Silverado, and thought it was great. I've been looking at tonneau's for my 2008 Silverado HD Crew, and I, too, decided that the "Undercover" was what I wanted......until it was installed. In my particular case, the tonneau overlapped my 6'6" bed by nearly a finger width along the sides, and by more than that across the tailgate. The only thing "smooth" about the lid was across the top. The fit everywhere else was terrible. My first thought was that the wrong tonneau had been ordered, but a phone call to the distributor confirmed we had the right one. My truck called for a #1070.

 

My decision to buy an "Undercover" was based on several factors, but to be honest, I'd never seen this tonneau on my model year truck. I was so disappointed at the look of the tonneau that I had the installer remove it. I guess I'll keep looking until I find a tonneau cover that looks good on my truck.

Bummer, I was going to install one of these the day after I get back from Iraq. Keep us posted on which brand you go with, I have a few weeks before I will be home and ready to pull the trigger.

I realize I do not have an 05 or newer truck but I do however have the Undercover Tonneau and that gap around the edges and tailgate are normal, I have a finger tip gap on the sides of the truck and close to the same on the tailgate, if it's more on the tailgate all you probally should have to do is slide the brackets forward some and it should fix the tailgate problem. If it didn't have that gap it would be sliding against the side of the bed scratching the crap out of it and I am sure you don't want that. My cousin has an 08 Silverado with one of these and he also has that gap. Hope this helps.
