I Got Gas For 3.34 A Gallon

My local grocery store has a gas station and a promotion. For every dollar spent on groceries you get a point. 50 points equals 10 cents off a gallon and it goes in 3 weeks increments. In the last 3 weeks we spent 466 dollars in groceries. So I got 90 cents off each gallon of gas. It was priced at 4.24 a gallon, so I got it for 3.34 a gallon. We will see how much we spend in the next 3 weeks. The extra 16 points goes towards the next 3 weeks. Alcohol, gift cards, and prescriptions are not eligible towards the points.

Got one up on this in NE Ohio and W. PA. Grocery store chain does the same thing but the points accrue for 3 months and give points for everything they sell incl alcohol, gift cards, and prescriptions. Not uncommon to have a couple bucks a gallon discount accumulated when I have to fill the truck.

What chains are doing this? We spend $500-$600 every two weeks on groceries, and could use the price break.

Giant Eagle in Ohio and PA does the $.10 off for every $50 spent on groceries. I just cashed in my points and filled Maxine and the gas cans for the yard equipment today.

Shop 'n Save here in the Pittsburgh area is also doing this in conjuction with some Sunoco stations here in SW Pa.

Yup, The Little Pigeon, aka Giant Eagle, is great for gas. I am single, so don't do a whole lot of grocery shopping, but buy tons of giftcards, which also count. I buy giftcards for Fridays, Home Depot, and all kinds of places. I have a few hundred bucks in cards, but its money I am going to spend anyways.
