Locked Igition Switch 89 Suburban

I have an 89 Chevy Suburban 4x4 and last week I turned the truck off and ignition switch felt like it was dragging as I turned it off. Didn't think anything of it until I tried to turn the igniton switch and it would not unlock. So I tried moving the steering wheel while trying to unlock the ignition and it would not unlock.

Had truck towed to repair shop and they replaced the ignition switch and everything seemed ok for a couple of days, but today it felt as if the switch would not unlock, but luckily after a few tries it finally unlocked.

So it appears as if something else is going on other then the igition switch. It appears that it might be something to do with the steering wheel lock.

 

Any one have any ideas on what I should look for. I am afraid to remove the key and have the steering wheel lock and not being able to turn the igition switch.
