I have a 2001 Chevrolet Siverado Z71.

I recently noticed my Cabin Air flow*(air conditiong) was poor after changing my battery.

Also I just got a noise as though my blower wheel is broken or something has fallen into it.

My questions are

1. How do yo get to the blower wheel for the cabin air.

2. What possible problems could cause my airflow to decrease other than the blower wheel.

3. Do I have a filter for the cabin air and if so where is it located.

Thanks

Jeff

Drop the plastic shield underneath the dash on the passenger side to access both the blower and the cabin air filters (yes you do have them). You'll need a 7mm socket. I think your owners manual details the filter replacement nicely from what I remember, the blower should be obvious.

Jeff,

If you don't have access to your owners manual do a search over in the fullsize truck area and you'll find what you need on both the filters and the blower motor. My bet is that clogged filters are reducing your airflow and that a leaf or two has made it's way into the squirrel cage causing the noise. Drop the blower down (you'll see if once you pull the plastic cover out of the way....far right hand side) and clean out the debris and change those filters and you should be back in business.
