i have been looking for a cheap exhaust for about a month and i had started out with magnaflow which is supposed to give you better performance and mpg and i looked at flow master which is supposed to give you a nice loud sound but dosent flow that well

i was just wondering if i have this right or if anyone has anything else to say

from what i found in research when i was buying my dual exhaust.... Flowmaster flows excellent , sounds great , but dosent last as long being it is not a stainless setup... magnaflow , flows great, sounds great (little tamer tho than flowmaster) and lasts a lot longer because of the available stainless....

 

I personally went with flowmaster for a couple reasons.... I love the sound, loved the fact that it was more that half the price than magnaflow, and i know that i would probably get tired of the sound after a couple years... so i didnt want to invest in a $600+ system when i will prob. want to change it down the road...

 

Ive had my American thunder 40 series dual now for over 8 months now and i still love it but have heard the newer 44 series and am considering changing out the muffler But prob wont since i am trying to pay off bills...

Flowmasters inner design is all chambered, so it restricts flow. Magnaflows is straight through, and its a packed muffler, so it flows well and the rock wool inside of it prevents resonation from in-cab and keeps the noise outside. Flowmasters sound pretty damn good, but I dont know if I would go with them again. My Silverado had true dual Super 44s on it, and the truck was already programmed for that much flow for exhaust, but I still noticed a 0.4mpg drop. Thats pretty low considering most mpgs drop much more.

 

The Super 44 is the only Flowmaster I would buy again. The 2 chamber design is the best flowing one they have. Theres only two baffles in the center chamber, gives a nice sound and doesn't restrict as much as a 40 series does.

 

 

I put the 11" body Magnaflows on my F150, love them. Loud outside, calm inside. I went from the stock 2.5" exhaust with the 32" OEM muffler, to true dual X piped 11" bodies ( and I also bumped my tire pressure a bit ) and went from 15.3mpg to 16.2mpg.
