Looking for info & found this site. Have 1994 Chevy 3/4ton ext.cab.short/bed 5.7 auto.4x4 with 3:73 gears, 105,000 miles stock. Have to keep the truck! What engine replacement would be best now that TBI is available for vortec crate engines. Stock Vortec or the 300hp plus's that GM also has. I am only concerned about torque and pulling power for 5000lbs. of horse/trailer and up. I will do catback and intake if needed but other than that I'm just looking for reliability and pulling power. Greatest vehicle I've ever owned (SIlverado) and is mint, just getting tired. Also, what should be done to the trans and transfer case when motor comes out? Thanks for anyone's help!

I think they also have a crate engine that is in 250 hp range.

You have alot of options but if you get too powerful, you may need to increase the cfm of your throttle body.

Welcome to the site Dave!

Isn't it great that GMPP finally got there butt in gear and got that TBI manifold out for the Vortec heads?  I've been waiting on that piece for awhile.  You will probably want to upgrade your injectors though.

Now when I get some money my worn out 350 will be replaced with the Vortec 383 stroker.  Its kind of expensive, but built for truck applications
