Difference Between Light Duty 2500 And Hd2500?

I bought a 2000 2500 to pull my 5th wheel camper, I thought a 2500 was a 2500 but when I research the numbers I discoverd much to my dismay that I have a light duty 2500! It has a 6.0 with heavy duty oil and trans cooler and even has heavy duty springs and a 3.73 posi gear and towing package, Why in the world would gm build a "light" duty 2500? its gvwr is 7200 What make a truck a heavy duty 2500 vs light duty 2500?

Is the 1500HD something similar to the 2500LD but with only one cab and bed option?

I believe it was an 8 lug vs. 6 lug(1500 series trucks) that came in a crew cab 6.5' box.

Thanks for the info, I just dont understand why they make it so confusing. My truck has the original sticker which shows it has all the heavy duty options with4L80E transmission plus even has the heavy duty capacity chassis option yet its still considered a light duty 2500? I guess thats why I was so surprises when I discover it was a light duty, If you think thats confusing try to figure out how camper it can tow, you need to be a genious to figure that out.
