solarjustin Posted August 4, 2008 Posted August 4, 2008 I have an 04 1500 2WD with the 4.8L and I have noticed as I am slowing down from about 25mph to about 10mph the engine will surge a few times (2-3 times) as I slow. The surge is of only about 200rpm, but it is enough I can hear it as well as see it on the tack and it does it 3 times like I am downshifting through the gears. Is this normal for these trucks? I can't remember for the life of me if the truck has always done this or if I am just now noticing because I have been driving the wife’s car a lot lately. It was doing this both before and after I had the filter and fluid flush done last week so I don’t think that service affected anything. Is this normal or any ideas what the solution is? Thanks
95Sierra2500 Posted August 4, 2008 Posted August 4, 2008 Sounds pretty normal. I would guess it's a combination of the truck downshifting to keep you in the proper gear, as well as the TC unlocking and locking. All of my vehicles do this.
black00chev Posted August 4, 2008 Posted August 4, 2008 I would say yes it's normal, I've noticed this before sometimes more then not with my truck as well.
solarjustin Posted August 4, 2008 Author Posted August 4, 2008 Good, Thanks. I have been driving my wife's V-6 RAV4 so much that when I went back to driving the truck the other week it was just weird that it did that while slowing down. I didn't think I remember it doing that much before, so it is good to here other people say they notice it happening more/less sometimes.
