Hid Convserion Kits

so after cleaning the truck up this weekend, i noticed one of my headlight housings is cracked. It doesnt seem to harm much in terms of lighting, but you cna grab the light and push it in and out ( like adjusting it).

and my question:

I really would like to do an HID conversion on my truck, but have not been able to find a kit that comes with all new housings. does anyone know of a company that sells these types of kits? i would like to do both high and low beams.

I dont think you can get new housings with a HID kit, I think your going to need to buy a new assembly.

maybe what i'm caling the housing is the assembly. i would like to replace the lens and bulb " housing" with one made for HID, then add the HID box and bulbs. make sense? im not that great at descriptions.

Sylvania used to make some. They were the Xenarc X2020. I don't know if you can get them anymore or not, but they are well worth it if you can find them. We have had them on the wife's tahoe for about 4 years now and I have nothing but great things to say about them. The light dispersion is perfect, and if you wire your lights to keep the lows on when the high beams are on, it's like daylight in front of you. Google them and see if you can find a set; even look on ebay. They are way better than just changing the bulbs out.

they still make the sylvania's, but the price tag is pretty up there!! didn't know the conversion would cost that much.

edit: found these on ebay, and it's pretty much waht i am looking for. does anyone have any experience with these kits? good or bad

I have the same HID "light kit" minus the housings on my 01. I got the 6k and will never run anything but HID's in my truck's again. I personaly think the aftermarket housings look cheap and crappy. Just replace with the stock housing. Trust me the hid's will be plenty bright. I live out in the sticks and have dirt roads and it makes them look like day light.

I have tried HID's in stock halogen housings. It is not a good idea. Sure, you can see much better, but you are blinding other drivers on the road which ultimately makes the situation less safe.

this is the main reason i don't want to put HID's in stock housings. plus one of mine is cracked anyway, so if i'm doing one, i'm doing both. and why not go bright??
