Power Window Problems..

i think my drivers window is possessed, honestly. About a week ago, the window started to act up a little. most of the time it works flawlessly, but it has begun having moments where it does not go up or down. if you hit the inside of the door panel a couple times, it works.

i was thinking maybe a ground is bad on the motor for the windows, and when you hit the panel, it givess enough ground to work. I have not done any investigation into the matter, so if anyone has any hints, it would be helpful!!

also if anyone has a manual on how to take apart the interior of the door, that would be great, i'd rather not just start tearing parts off, i know there is a method to it...

thanks

Pick up a Haynes or Chiltons manual that should guide you into taking your door apart. It could be your power window regulator. Mine went on my 01, but when it went it just quit working all together. Good luck.

I am glad I am not the only one with a demonic '01!! My tahoe's L/R window has been doing this for 2 years. I have been lazy, my son just makes his buddies ride on that side

10:1 it's a motor.

Edit: that bet was for the OP.

I'd check to make sure the switch is plugged in all the way. My passenger window slowly stopped working, then I pulled the switch panel off, and the thing wasn't plugged in all the way.

As for how to get the panel off, this should help (never knew how handy these pictures would be :D )

as an update, the problem was the motor. i replaced it today, and encountered only one snag. when taking the old motor out, i accidently pulled the spool for the cable out. and when i took it off the gear on the motor, the cable unspooled  . easy fix, just make sure the cables are not crossed when you re-assemble........ :D

total time about 45 minutes, including the above snag. cost 48.50 from carquest. i also lubed all moving points while the door was apart with white lithium grease. works fast, kinda like new!!! gonna have to lube up the passenger side to see if it does the same.

thanks for all the help!!
