Well... we were bored this morning so we took a little road trip to the Shiner Brewery in Shiner Texas. (actually it's the Spoetzl Brewery that makes Shiner) It's only about 75 miles from our front door. Shiner is a tiny town of 2000 residents. It is very nice and neat and the folks there are quite friendly... They have lots of beautiful old estates with early 1900s homes. They also like Shiner beer. We had a great time... Even stopped off in Gonzales Texas for an old fashioned BBQ lunch. Man, those Czechs know how to make sausage. Great food and great people.

Can't take pictures inside but the brewery tour and free samples are cool. I had me a Shiner Bock fresh out of the tap at the Shiner Brewery... that was pretty ok. Mrs Clown went for the Shiner Blonde. Nothing like getting it fresh from the brewery!

Here are a few pics.

Looked like a good time. I think it is cool to go into a small town like that. You get that all layed back feeling. People are friendly, and they treat you like your a human being. That little town reminded me a little bit like Olive Hill, Kentucky.

Very jealous Jim that you live only 75 miles away. Hope to visit the brewery down there soon, I certain drink enough of their beer!

Did you stop by for a campaign speech and fundraiser too? Shiner brew on tap for all local TX campaigners! Great idea, did you think of that or Jeff, your campaign mgr?

Damn Jim, what happened to the Hippie Hair?

That went away some time back. Got tired of being mistaken for the guy on the wall at the post office.

They do things a little different here in Texas.

Emily took that pic while I was walking in. Pretty crummy shot.

Nice, the last roadtrip I took with the folks before dad passed away last month was to Missouri. We stopped at the AB brewery in St. Louis on St. Pat's day oddly enough, so I placed the pic that I had mom take of dad and I holding our free samples with a sign in his casket a few weeks back. Enjoy the trips with family when you can guys, because they make those memories that last.
