Climate Control Interchangeable?

Hi, i have an 06 sierra hd duramax, it came with manual dual zone climate control. i picked up a digital control unit on ebay (waiting for shipment) and was wondering ahead of time if it would be possible to get it to work with my truck?

It takes more than the unit. I cant remember the specifics, buts its more complicated that you think. for example, you'll also need the sensors and will need to reprogram the BCM or a new one alltogether.

 

Try searching, someone else may of done the conversion.

Thats odd, I though the climate control came standard on the trucks?

It may be possible but it will entail more than just hooking up the unit. You have to take your dash apart and install 4 sensor. Then you have to install a sensor in you headliner. Then you have to install an abient temp sensor under the hood, even if you already have one for your temeprature mirror, the Automatic system requiers a separate one. Then you have to wire it all up. You'll also need to get different connectors and wire them up. You can wire the connectors yopurself or purchase them but wiring them yourself can save you a substantial amount of money.

 

It's a huge PITA. I already tried and gave up on my 2007 2500HD. If I were you I would leave it as is. It can be done but it is more hassel and expense than it is worth.

I have started this mod also on my 06 Silverado Ext Cab. I have all the sensors and modules and just need to get a hold of various connectors for the sensors and the one for the back of the HVAC control unit. I'm hoping that someone at a local junk yard will be willing to part with some connectors. Should have it completed by the end of next week if all goes well.
