last week went to start and all i got was click click... Replaced the battery and she ran fine until this morning. Go to start, and just click...click...click... Charged up the battery and reconnected the positive side. I immediately see a voltage drop on the new battery. Within minutes, it drops from 12.7 to about 9 volts. disconnect the hot side and battery bounces back to 12.7. All accessoried are turned off.

i'm late for work and AAA is 3 hours out.

Ideas?

Start pulling fuses. You can check the draw across the fuse pins with the fuse removed using a DVOM set for amps. Find the circuit with the draw and then go from there.

SOLVED? Tried a number of things, but battery voltage once charged would rapidly drop once the hot side was connected. So, had to break down and call AAA-- got towed to friend's shop.

Actually, AAA used a HUGE amp jumper and it did fire up. Went to drive it to the shop to be checked out and after about 20', the alison tranny slipped into neutral. huh? Go to reverse and again about 20' and defaults to neutral. All the RPMS would not make it move. At same time, all the idiot lights on dash were flashing wildly. Of course, AAA had left by then and i had to call them back!

At my buddys's shop they poked and prodded for about 30 minutes. Verdict? Bad battery. The battery in place was only 1 week old. They tested it and determined the AC Delco had an internal short. Slapped in a new battery and it drives fine.... pray, hope and believe... it will hold. Seems the super low battery voltage caused computer havoc and sent all sorts of wild signals to the tranny. It runs great...for now. We have a long road trip set for this w/e, so think i'll bring along a spare battery...just in case.

argh! Missed a whole day of work over this. At least the battery was replaced n/c.
