Cable On The Way!

Just spoke with Justin from Black bear performance and the scan cable for the tune is on the way. I can't wait to get the process completed so that I can enjoy the benefits of the custom tune. Justin is a great guy and obviously very patient with folks that don't know anything about the custom tune process, like myself. I'll keep you updated :dunno: .

That is great news! :dunno:

You should take some performance measurements before so you can do comparisons afterwards to see the improvements.

Awesome. :dunno: How much is it going to end up costing?

The tune is $200 but I'm not sure about the PCMs. I sent a $400.00 depost on the cable today but I get that back when the tune is complete and I return the cable. I can't wait to get it installed.

Ray,

Looking forward to hearing about yet another awesome Blackbear tune. Dammit, I wish that EFI LIve handheld would arrive, I am getting anxious, but I really want to wait for that so I don't have to mess with the cables back and forth and that way I can have Justin do updates and send them via e-mail. Plus it'll store several different tunes. Did he mention this by any chance? I know it's coming "soon", but as far I know, it's not out yet.

He didn't mention the hand held. I don't know that much about performance and such so it would probably be a dangerous gadget for me to have around. Justin sound extremely knowledgeable and confident in his abilities. I'm really looking forward to see the difference a quality custom tune makes. I'll keep you posted.

Ray you won't be disasppointed. Are you going 87 or 93 octane?

I did 87 and am very happy with how that turned out... Gas needs to come down around $3 and then I might try 93.

I'm hoping that 87 will be sufficient, I'm sure Justin will let me know if I need to step up to 93, like you, I hope not, gas is just to high. Did you gain any mpgs when you got your tune?

Sorry to jack the thread, but how much is this hand held predicted to cost? I plan on getting a tune from him sometime soon and want to know if it'd be worth it to wait and buy that hand held, because I've heard a lot of hype about it. Keep in mind I have a two-generation old GMT400 K1500, so will that new hand held even be compatible with my truck, or would EFILive's original V1 hand held be all I need if I wanted my own hand held? Will just using a scanner cable with the EFILive application on a laptop do the same thing as a hand held? If that's the case, couldn't I just save the tunes on the hard drive and update the ECM and TCM with whichever tune I want at the time? Sorry for all of the questions, but I've been debating this for a while and want to know if it's worth the wait, or even if it applies to me. It's alright if you can't answer them all; I know you're not Justin. Thanks! :wtf:

Sorry Cheyenne but I cannot answer your questions but some of these other guys may. This will be my first tune and I'm very excited about it.
