Nbs Ext. Cab Door Strikers?

Recommended Posts

I took my truck to the dealer today because my interior keeps making these creaking noises near where the front door and back door meet on both sides. From what they have told me was that the door strikers on the back doors are wore out and have been redesigned. My truck has been driving me up the wall with these noises everytime the truck flexes or goes over bumps. My question is, can anybody shed some light on this issue, or have any TSB info from GM? They have the parts on order and have to take it in sometime this week to get the "redesigned" ones installed.

Thanks for the help, Josh

The service manager is the worst at my dealership. The sales dudes are awesome and got a me a great deal on the truck, but the service department, not so much.

I used to depend on the TSB's on this forum so that I could actually get my truck fixed, but now I'm outta luck. The dealership just never wants to be nice and actually fix something. :wtf:

Man that sucks. I got two dealers here in Shreveport and one is a great dealer and the other sucks just like your dealer. I would be calling GM corporate, because they won't help. Otherwise, just take it to another dealer, you paid money for a nice truck so don't let them jack you around on what you are entitled to.

I had the same problem on my drivers side door. When I would go over a hard bump the rattle sounded like

it came from my(drivers) side. I took the extended cab door and pulled on it and it was not latched tight on

the top. I opened and closed that door a dozen times trying to get it to latch tightly but couldn't do it. On

my way back from a shopping trip I stopped by the dealer, the service manager came out to greet me and I

told him of the problem. I opened and closed it and showed him how the top latch wasn't tight and he grabbed

the door and closed it one time and it latched tightly. I pulled on it and couldn't believe that that sucker was

now firmly latched closed. That did the trick, no more door rattle.

He didn't slam it, just closed it firmly and it latches every time. Try closing it by grabbing the middle of the

door and pushing it closed all the way with your hand.

Hope this helps....it worked for me.

Mine will rattle if not fully closed also. Close the rear door and grab near the top and attempt to move it in and out. If it moves close it a little more firmly. When it doesn't move when trying to shake it, close the front door and it won't rattle anymore. I believe mine need adjusted so I don't need to close the rear so firmly but I automatically check it for movement each time I open and close the door before closing the front and I've not had any rattle since. Someday I'll see about adjusting it if I ever have to go in for anything else.

That's the thing the door is solid latched in place. That's why they wanted to replace them. For a while I thought it wasn't latching, but it still creaks latched. Any of u guys gotten your strikers replaced?

My ext cab made noise too. The dealer put a 3M tape on the top edge of all the doors, It contacts the rubber on the truck when closed. It is clear tape. There is a tsb on it but I don't know the number. The dealer did a crapy job of putting the tape on but no more noise! My doors rubbed so much that it was removing the paint. Hope this helps>

I second the door not latching at the top....my driver's side door was "misaligned" they said...the body shop fixed it and it closes tight now...but yes, it does require a firm push, can't let it close on its own power for instance...

I also have had this problem. It started with the rubber seal between the driver and rear driver side door squeaking then after a while the rear door itself became loose and started to rattle. The dealer tightened it up but the rubber seal still squeaks a lot. Gonna have to bring it back in to see if they can't fix that as well.

My seatbelt mounts rattle too. WHen I don't have a passenger I still clip the seatbelt and its not so bad. Anybody have this looked at by the dealer?

Now I get a clicking noise from what seems to be the engine when I accelerate. Doen't here it while cruising but as soon as I apply more throttle I get a distinct clicking noise. Not to loud, and when I open the windows the wind noise drowns it out. Any ideas of what this could be? And theres only 12000 miles on it. Can it be a U joint already?
