Removing the spring loaded spark plug caps

Has anyone any insight into why i cannot remove the #### spark plug caps? These friggin things are spring loaded and from what i was told its just a matter of compressing the casing then squeezing the casing and pulling it off. If this is correct then whats the deal :):)

Just did mine last weekend. Turn the rubber spark plug boot 1/4 turn to break the loose. Then just pull on the metal sleeve on the outside and it should come right off. The sleeve is cupped around the end of the boot and will pull the boot off with it. I applied a dab of silicon grease on the inside of the boot when reinstalling.

Hope this helps.

GM Dielectric grease would be better than plain ol' silicon(even though it's probably the same).  Permatex "Tune Up Grease" was made just for that purpose also.

10-4 Import hater. I used part# 12345579 GM Dielectric Silicon grease. Kind of pricy at the dealer. Around $7.00 for a 7oz tube. Works great on weatherstripping too! A little bit goes a long way.
