Study: Used Truck Prices Rebound

Arlena Sawyers Automotive News September 5, 2008 - 4:13 pm ET Falling gasoline prices helped boost wholesale prices of large used trucks in August, NADA AuctionNet data show.Average wholesale prices of used full-sized pickups rose by 9.9 percent -- about $700 -- in August from June, when gasoline prices peaked, according to AuctionNet. But in the first eight months of 2008, those prices fell by 14.5 percent from the year-ago period, the company said.Similarly, auction prices of large SUVs rose 8.9 percent -- about $1,300 -- between June and August, but are down 11.3 percent for the year. By contrast, wholesale prices of intermediate compact cars rose 22.0 percent between January and August 2008 from the year-ago period.AuctionNet data are based on auction sales by Manheim, ADESA Inc. and independent companies. NADA Used Car Guide compiles the data.

I see that every day. The prices are coming up quicker than I thought they would... as gas prices drop.

I'm waiting for the 4.5L diesel!

 

Edit: Actually, I will probably keep this truck until it dies. I promised myself this is IT! I've had 6 cars in the last 4 years. I get bored....
