Airlift Doesn't Fit 2007 Nbs Wt?

I did a search prior to buying the AirLift Ride Control (Kit# 59565) for my 2007 1500 WT and it seemed like others were using the kit on NBS trucks without issue. That said, I started the install this weekend and immediately noticed a discrepancy between the instructions and my truck: the instructions show an ABS wire bracket in a hole on the bottom of the frame rail. My truck doesn't have this bracket and there is no hole in the bottom of my frame rail (see pic) IMG_2686.JPG. The real problem is that this hole is re-used by the kit to bolt the upper air bag bracket to the frame rail, so without a hole there, I can't locate the bracket. Also, the bracket doesn't appear to fit on the rail well, it only goes partway on even with persuasion from a dead-blow mallet. I took a bunch of pictures capturing pertinent details, like the kit #, model number on the bracket, etc. http://picasaweb.google.com/lacartus/AirLift# I'm going to call AirLift tomorrow and will post a followup, but for now if anyone has successfully installed this kit on a 2007 NBS WT (LS), please feel free to add any insight you can offer. Thanks, Ian

I would have no problem drilling holes for the brackets. A good metal C-Clamp could cinch them up tightly to the frame rail. Pretty basic engineering and fabrication. As long as it looks like the bags will line up correctly, I say dive in!

I just spoke to AirLift tech support and unfortunately, they do not have a kit that fits my truck. This kit is only intended for the short or standard beds, not the long bed (8') that I have on my truck. The long bed has gussets (metal reinforcement welded to the frame rail) that interferes with the fitment of the upper bracket. This explains why I could not get the bracket snug against the rail, it was riding up on the gusset. I order this kit from Summit Racing and unfortunately, the fitment guide (enter model, etc.) led me to believe this would fit. Thanks for the encouragement Zem...I may look to see if I can get the kit to line-up correctly before the gusseting, otherwise I'm going to send it back to Summit. For the record: AirLift Ride Control Kit# 59565 does not fit long bed trucks Thanks, Ian

I've returned the AirLift kit to Summit and ordered the Firestone Ride Rite kit, which they say will fit the longbed (8 feet). The angle required to work around the gusseting on the frame rail worried me and the AirLift tech said it was important to keep it aligned so the bag won't fail.

Makes sense. I did think it was odd that your original brackets didn't just mate up with the frame. Glad you got it worked out.

EDIT: I've heard realy good things about the Firestone Kits. Hopefully that will bolt right up.
