Heated Washer Fluid Recall Notice

So today I got a Safety Recall Notice for the Heated Washer Fluid from Chevrolet, it says that GM will install a wire harness with an inline fuse, and it will be installed at no charge. It also says that parts should be available on or after November 1, 2008. It says that I should take the Silverado on or after November 1, 2008 so they could fix it, and to take the recall notice to the dealer. Has anybody else gotten the recall letter?

I got my letter today as well, this issue has been covered quite a bit lately here on the forum.

Yep, got mine today too. Actually works out good for me, now I can get my Auto Butler treatment done at the same time and get a loaner car instead of having to wait for it.

But be warned...I wouldn't doubt it if it takes a little longer for the parts to come out,The way its been with GM backordering parts lately is crazy....I can't get a third brake light for an '03 Cadillac DTS,Can't get a grille emblem for an '05 Trailblazer,Can't get a fuel injector pump for an '08 Duramax (That only has 300 miles on it!!) I could go on...

But be warned...I wouldn't doubt it if it takes a little longer for the parts to come out,The way its been with GM backordering parts lately is crazy....I can't get a third brake light for an '03 Cadillac DTS,Can't get a grille emblem for an '05 Trailblazer,Can't get a fuel injector pump for an '08 Duramax (That only has 300 miles on it!!) I could go on...

I bet thats a happy customer with only a 300 mile Duramax already in the shop......

He IS NOT happy at all,He's pissed that first of all the truck broke down and left him stranded with only 300 miles on it,Then he's really pissed because I can't get the part needed to fix it because GM don't have any to send me!

No kidding. I'm waiting for a few warranty parts, basic plastic stuff, and it seems to be taking forever. If those were major components, I know I'd be pissed. Not cool.

Crap I hope this is an anomaly, I don't want to be revisiting injection pumps once a week.

I'll probably go a couple of days after November 1, so they hopefully have the parts to fix the heated washer fluid system.

Anybody know if there is any chance this will require a re-flash of the ECM? I just want to know if I will need to swap my modules.

Don't know Jeff,It doesn't look like that would be needed,But I won't know until the repair procedure comes out in the bulletin.
