Leveling Kits...with Or Without Shock Extensions

I am planning on putting a leveling kit on my 2006 Silverado Crew. I've been searching e-bay for different kits and have noticed that some have shock extensions and some don't. Is it better to get one with the extensions?

These are the kits I've been looking at:

With shock extensions

Without extentions

Thanks for your input!

I didnt think you needed new shocks for a leveling kit. I know when I did mine on my Colorado, I just cranked the T-bars and thats it. To be honest, just crank your stock bars with the stock keys for 2 inches and put a block in the rear. It'll save you over 100 bucks too. I think the re-indexed keys are a rip-off as they do that same thing your stock keys do. Also 3" is a bit much. That amt of lift using the T-bars will put your CV at an extreme angle and put a lot more stress on tie-rods, ball-joints and crap. Your ride will also suffer and be a lot more stiff. I would do about 1 1/2 - 2" and do a rear block and call it good.

I don't think you need new shocks for a leveling kit, but from what I've seen on e-bay, some kits come with and some don't. I'm guessing that the extensions may be a little easier on the shocks after the lift.

I was thinking about going about 2" to 2.5" up front and then 1" in the back with blocks. Would there be any problems with this?

get the kit with the shock extensions for the front shocks. this prevents the shocks from being over extended over bumps and extends the life of the shocks. also if you don't use the extensions the shocks will bang as they reach the end of their travel. I realize that the extensions aren't that much longer than the stock mounts but they make a huge difference in the ride of your truck. also make sure you get an alignment done after the kit is installed. you may want to step up to a longer shock in the rear for the same reason. I put a pair of 4" ranchos in the back of my 3/4 ton when I had it and it made a huge diff there too.
