Excessive Wind Noise

I just purchased a 2004 3/4 Suburban LT 4X4 6.0L to haul our trailer. I have noticed excessive wind noise as I increase speed. I went to a local auto glass store and had them re-seal the windshield. I thought that would fix it but the noise is still there. The wind noise increses with speed and hits a peak at about 55 Mph. Best I could describe it would be that it sounds as if the front window defroster vents and blowing air at full speed - even when they are turned off. It also seems to be orginating from the passenger side.

I'm pretty sure the windshield has been replaced...and it's now properly sealed. But, is there a "baffle" that could be missing? Basically sounds like rushing air.

Thanks,

Tony

Do you have a bug deflector?

Thanks for replying. No, there is no bug deflector or anything aftermarket. I just took out n the highway again...it literally sounds like the blower motor going into overdrive and blowing air through the defroster to the windshield. It's as if there is nothing to slow (or baffle) the outside air rushing in at 50Mph. Could it be coming from the air intake for the HVAC system?

Thanks....

Extreme wind noise is pretty unusual in GMT800 and GMT900 trucks. I've owned a several of them and never had one that seemed excessive. Let us know what you figure out.

:dunno:

Well it's solved.....I discovered that the windshield had been replaced and discovered the wind noise was actual wind coming in under the windshield on the passenger side. Since it was above the HVAC unit it was hard to tell where it was coming from exactly.

Just came back from a friendly auto glass installer who removed the trim and improperly installed window sealant and repaired the shoddy work...all for 20 bucks cash. No more noise.....!

Thanks,

T
