Another Clank Sound Going Over Bumps In Road

Greetings,

I want to say thanks to those who helped me with the 'other' clank I was having. It was fixed by putting rubber bushings on the lower leaf springs. Still works great.

 

I know it's hard to diagnose a clank clatter but here goes...

A few months ago I began to experience another clank sound (sounds like metal rattle, or a metal line, sheet metal rattle).

 

I went under the truck a few days back with a rubber mallet and lightly banged around some areas, including the spare tire...nothing.

 

Someone told me to watch out for the bell housing (or similar) as if gets worse could cause big $$$. The housing seems to be tight though.

 

Checked the heat shields way up under carriage, also seem ok.

It's driving me nuts

 

It happens when going over any small bumps, potholes. And seems to be coming from the mid to rear of the truck.

 

Any suggestions/help appreciated.

I'm going to try and place a recorder under the truck and try and recreate the sound.

Maybe attaching it to different areas under the truck.

I'll check back shortly.
