Silverado Center Console Broken.. Need Help!

I have a 2004 Silverado extended cab. The center console flips up to make a middle front seat. The hinges on the lid of the console have broken off. I googled this problem, and it seems to be pretty common on this type of console. I contacted my local dealer, and they informed me that I couldn't just buy the lid; that I had to buy the entire jumper seat for $350. I also tried local junk yards, but none have what I am looking for. Ebay has some, but they are not that much cheaper than the dealership after you factor in shipping cost. So, instead, I bought a piano hinge, and attached it to the back of the console. But, when I thought I was finished, I noticed that the latch would not release the lid when I pushed the open button. I pulled the cover off the latch, and there is a little plasic piece that holds the open button in place that has broken off.

 

So here are my questions:

 

Anyone have this problem, and have any suggestions to fix this?

 

Any suggestions on any other type of consoles I can place there instead that won't cost me an arm and a leg? It's not important that I keep the jump seat, I just want something that looks nice.

No prob, just wanted to get a good idea. My thought of what you are saying could be different than what you are actually describing. Also, what color are your seats (gray, tan, etc)?

Thanks for that. I'll keep my eye on those. The ones I have seen on ebay in the past have shown good prices, but in the last couple of hours, it becomes a bidding frenzy.

Just found this (Bruce, not sure if this is you posting or not, they got the same quote from their Chevy dealer for $350)...

 

Purchased the lid from their Chevy dealer for $139.80

But $140 still seems a bit pricey for just the lid. But, I am probably just being nit picky, and should just buy the damn thing. But the latch is broken now, so I have a new set of problems.
