My Silverado Is Starting To Make Noises!

The '08 started to irritate me. The door panel and lock seem to be rattling now. The big

issue, The thud coming from the rear. After letting off the brakes at a light, theres a thud or something. It also does it when I get to a complete stop. Is this the transmission thud people were talking about? I thought my shocks were loose or something. Owners, Please Chime IN!!!

LOL. Adding an amp and bigger speakers will also go a long way in removing any "thud".

I think GM now offers a package that includes a new Exhaust, Amp and Speakers to address this issue.

 

Just ask for the "Thumper" deal.

OK... here's some help. It's on '08, thus, arguably under warranty.

 

I would run it back to your dealer and let them have a crack at it.

 

Mine has the driveline clunk every now and then as well.

 

The door rattle. Sounds like something may be loose under the door panel. Again, I'd let the dealer perform a warranty fix on that.

Not 100 % postive, but my 07 use to do this and when they updated the ECM program last trip to teh dealer it almost all but stopped the thunk.

 

I can still make it do it, if I have to come to perform a complete panic type stop from about 30 MPH

Mine started doing the clunk at about 6000 miles. Sometime it does it when I take my foot off the brake, sometimes it's while I'm sitting STOPPED at a light with my foot on the brake. The first time it did it, I thought I'd been bumped by the car behind me.

 

I'm going back to the dealer with it next week. I wish it had done it during the test drive, I'd have walked away and never looked back. My '01 had so many driveline clunks and slips it drove me just about batshit.

My 07 is doing the same thing. I here a rattle right before the truck stops, and when slowing down enough for the transmission to downshift. If I'm in OD when stopping then it will rattle 3 times. If I'm in 3rd it will do it twice, so on. If I pull up to a light and bump it in neutral then the noise never happens. This is what leads me to think it is the tranny. I have also had the driveshaft clunk and it feels as though like I was in a fender bender.

I wish I had some input. My truck isn't doing it... yet. Definitely take it to the dealer and see what they can do under the warranty. Make sure to keep us in the loop, so if/when it happens to the next we have an idea of what to do.
