code 35: ignition pulse width error

check engine light has been coming on intermittantly for the last couple of weeks.  nothing new for me, i have that 6.5 turd-bo.  didn't really think a whole lot about it since i rarely go more than a month without some kind of problem.  anyway, on friday it died on me twice and stumbled once but i put about 130 miles on it afterward with no problems.  now i'm suspicious as this truck literally enjoys leaving me on the side of the road.   i check codes and pull up a 35.  both my books say ignition pulse width error but don't detail what that fault is and what i might do to correct it.  i'm hoping some of you might have seen it and can help me out.  this is my one and only company truck and i can't rely on the $8#! thing.  oh! this might be helpful:  it's a '94 6.5 turbo/4l80e.

update for monday.  it died on me once but started right back up.  go figure.

i took it by the diesel shop today that sold me the module last year, which seemed to work ever since.  the same guy was not there (this guy is pretty slick with these things) but some other schmoe was there and i explained what the truck was doing.  he says he would check for fuel pressure and if it has fuel pressure then replace the injection pump.  huh?  truck doesn't stumble, doesn't hick-up or sputter.  when it runs, it runs.  it just dies.  man, that just doesn't sound like an injection pump to me but i really don't know.  you guys got any thoughts on this?

Hey Clutchdust longtime no talk. If i remember right the Diesel has a signal generator in the back where a gasser has the distributer. It produces a signal for the PCM to know the RPM's the engine is turning. Check th connector & wireing first. You can remove the generator just like a distributer but it does not need to be timed when installing. If you have a scanner check the data the PCM is getting.

I will try to see if i still have info on the Diesel. The generator was used from 1982 up so it shouldnt be hard to find a used one. Military 6.2 & 6.5 are all the same.
