No Ac (refrigerant And Fuses Fine)

Compressor will not engage/start up.

Refrigerant level/pressure is fine.

Pulled the sensor connector at low pressure switch and did not get voltage there.

Fuse ok.

Am I in for some wire tracing?

Did you jump the connector at the drier to see if the compressor engages? If not, take a piece of wire and jump it foe just a second or two and see. Both times that I have had a similar AC problem in my trucks, that switch had gone bad. It's probably a ground circuit, so there would be no power there, just completion of a ground at a designated pressure.

oops, yea, brain fart. Wouldn't be 12 volts there, just an open/closed circuit switch.

 

Tested it with jumper wire and no AC clutch engagment still.

Next, I would jump the clutch at the compressor and make certain that it is functioning. Do this without the truck running! A simple click from the clutch should be enough to know if it is good or bad.

 

Silly Q. Have you cycled the AC control through all of its settings (like defrost) to see if the compressor engages?

I had (and should have mentioned) jumped the clutch at the compressor, nothing.

Might be in for buying a clutch. If I remember right I can buy/replace just the clutch and leave the compressor intact, correct?

You said you checked for voltage at the switch but made no mention of voltage at the compressor. That should have been a step ahead of checking the switch. If you have a test light disconnect the compressor and jump your light across the two terminals. The light should light when you command the a/c on. This should be checked with the engine running, I can not say enough use caution when the engine is running, be careful. Jump you lamp across those two terminals with the engine off and put the light where you can see it. Start the engine and turn on the a/c. I didn't look at your location but just to make sure you need to have an ambient temperature of over 60F.
