Power Locks Not Working

Posting for a friend with a 2002 Astro Van, I had the identical problem with a 99 Montana mini-van.

It seems to be a GM issue.

Power locks all work (lock) when van is put into gear. They all unlock when in park and key is turned off.

They do NOT work at all from either dirver or front passenger door lock/un-lock switch.

This is an issue with the Astro because you can't get into the back doors (with the old key slot frozen up)

Any hints where to look for problems?

Doesn't seem like both front lock switches sould be bad at the same time.

thanks.

I wish I had a picture to show you what I can see in my head. I looked over the diagrams and breakouts and I think you will find that there has been some water intrusion on the passenger side of the kick panel at the a pillar. Let me try to put that in plain english. If you are sitting in the passenger seat and take your right foot and kick it sideways to the right just in front of the door there is a plastic panel there. Remove the panel and your issue is in that area. Remove that panel and let me know if something jumps out at you.

Let me just run over the complaint as I understand it. When you press lock or unlock on the remote all of the doors work as they should. If you press lock or unlock on ANY of the door switches they do not work. Key words being, ANY switch and LOCK or UNLOCK. Do any of these switches work the way you would think they should at any point. If any switch works in any position it narrows down the scope of what you are looking for. If no switches in any position work then I would say there is water intrusion in that area and you will find more than one problem.
