New Hub Assembly Bad?

Hey y'all - I've got a '98 Z71 with a 4" Rancho lift and 98k miles. I went to get it aligned today, and they wouldn't do it because of bad inner and outer tie rod ends and hub assebly on the driver's side. So I went to Napa, got the parts, and replaced them. When I went to get it aligned again, the tie rod ends were fine, but the wheel still has a little play when doing the 12/6 o'clock shake. The ball joints look solid. From the inside you can see the rotor moving but not the dust plate.

 

Could the new hub assembly be bad?

Did you get everything tight? It shoudn't have much if any visible play. I'd recheck it.

The front right wheel on my 99 Silverado 2500 had play in the 12 to 6 o'clock direction and my truck was wandering all over the road. I took it to a wheel alignment shop and the 2 bolts attaching the RH upper control arm to the frame were loose.

 

The upper control arm bolts should be tightened to 140 ft lbs. The lower control arm bolts should be tightened to 107 ft lbs.

Hrmph! I went ahead and purchased another new hub assembly and installed it and returned the first one. It's solid as a rock now! I tested the first new hub assembly after removal, and was able to jiggle it a little with my bare hands. Not good.

 

I then brough the truck back to get aligned, and they lined it up fine, but said my rear axle is crooked? That'll be a new post

Good deal on the fix. Rear axles can move if hit just right. The pin in the leaf is hardly a tight fit. All it normally takes is loosening the U bolts and moving it back into place assuming there isn't any spring or frame damage.

looks like you got a truck that had a previous owner that did some serious off roading
