So when one finally decided to say it's time for a Supercharger, what exacly is on the list of parts you need to buy? Complete list please...

Are there mods that have to be done to existing parts? Or is it just simple plug and play?

Most important, most recommended SC? Pro's and cons also?

Well it just depends on how much boost you want to run.3-4lbs max boost you probibly will be ok with just a bolt on. but you will still need to retard your timing to about 28 degrees max and use 93 octane. (you want to prevent any pre dedination since your compression is a tad high). But I will asure you once you feel the the boost you will want more... Its only natural!!! So for some food for thought you should build the motor to withstand the extra pressure.. For starters I would drop the cr down from 9.6:1 to 7.5:1 using forged pistons and rings designed for blower apps. Connected to some forged rods and a forged crank. I'd also use some Inconal exhaust valves with a sevier duty stainless on the intake. Might as well go for a cam thats desgined to work with your blower as well. Now your fuel system and ignition will need to be modified for your intended use. Plus you will have to have a free flowing exhaust to compliment your incresed air flow through the engine. Now you would have a nice foundation to build some power and have some longivitity....

What he said, i have a whipple it runs 5-6 psi boost, my engine is 9:1 compression, it will hard on her, have to run premium and octane boost aswell most likley, AND it will genereate tremendous heat. I was planning on putting it on the factory engine and see how it does for a summer and build up a long block special for this application. Also Consider that upgrades to fuel and ignition sytems are required, plus cooling sytem and transmission upgrades, it kinda soaks into the truck the things required to upgrade, may need better driveshafts and differentials, i know i will have to get a detroit locker or a really good limited slip unit, cause even now my factory limited system sucks...

What about prematurely wearing down the engine? All that power would have an effect on the engines life potential? Or if it si built correctly like what you guys said, it will last as long as a stock engine?

Yes a properly built engine using forged internals will last under a blower. What kills a blower motor very fast is predetination. This is why it is very important to get your F/A ratio correct, retard your ingition and use a "good" grade of fuel that will support the amount of boost you are running. Whipple seems to have done their homework in this area. They are very popular in the marine enviroment. Check them out and give Dustin a call....
