Leveling Kit - Bilstein

Recommended Posts

So, I have been reading about this Bilstein kit, which is 2 new struts, and raises the coil spring perch without a spacer.

It also can be purchased with the rears that are advertised with a 1" lift...this makes no sense.

One other member has his on order, and I was wondering if anybody else has any input...

The bad thing is, I already ordered all 4 of them :dunno: If I decide not to change, I will sell them. I just liked the idea better, and wanted that extra .5-.75 inches they advertise. Mine only raised about 1.5", and I am going to be adding a canopy/topper, and am looking at another set of wheels/tires. Wanted just a bit more height up front, I have the rear covered!

Yeah Dan, that can't be right, like I was saying it makes no sense. From what I gather in my research, the shocks will accomodate a 1 inch lift, so they must be slightly extended, maybe?? I have the rear lift covered, just a few psi in my AirLifts raises the rear nearly 1.5"

I guess we will see when it all shows up, was just hoping someone had already went this route.

I wondered this also Scott,I also looked into this setup.

As you know I have 1" rear-lift blocks under my truck, with the stock shocks (They are actually stock Rancho shocks from a GMC "All-Terrain") and they are fine.

So why would you need new rear shocks for a 1" lift?

I likely don't need them, Rich. I got a smokin' deal on all 4, basically the 2 rears for $60, and they list for $100+ each so I did it.

Should be interesting

Here' the way I make sense of it. The front of our trucks are usually 2.25 inches lower in the front. They make the front struts that can to up to 3 inches high (with the use of clips). On the standard truck that leaves about 3/4 of an inch left of play (assuming you only needed 2.25 inches to level your truck). Let's say just for kicks you just extended the struts the entire 3 inches off the bat, the front of your truck is now high the the rear, so they also sell rear shocks that extend 1 inch to make the truck level (or as level as can be).

Inexpensive way to lift your truck while keeping (even improving) the factory ride.

I was told the Bilsteins were on national back order. Have you got shipping confirmation yet? Also what part numbers did you order? The reason I ask is I've seen the Bilsteins 5100's online for $80 each. I"m thinking about ordering them online and paying a local suspension shop to install them.

Bud I wonder if they'll know how to use the extension clips?

I was just notified that they are shipping today, so hopefully I will have them Friday.

Perfect timing, I need to get the Centerlines off this weekend anyway, as the snow just keeps falling :D

x3!!!

Hey man, I just put on a superlift 2.5" leveling kit that replaces the stock front strut for about $200 bucks plus install. The ride still seems good and it actually leveled out the truck unlike most of the spacers. I'll try to add a pic tomorrow if I have time.
